Wade is regarded as a versatile piano player. His adaptability as a musician means he can be found in settings ranging from quiet solo piano to big swing bands, corporate rock bands to intimate jazz duos. More recently he has collaborated with the talented Jo Loth in the cabaret Mind Games, culminating in performances at QUT Kevin Grove, the Judith Wright Centre as part of the Brisbane Cabaret Festival, and The Butterfly Club (Melbourne). He has written for various ensembles including solo piano, jazz quartet, brass quintet and 18-piece big band. His compositions and arrangements have been performed by groups such as West End Composers Collective, Enthusiastic Musicians Orchestra, the Con Artists, and Best of Brass. Wade’s interest in many types of world music sees him frequently work with Nicholas Ng, an erhu player (Chinese violin), culminating in performances at ABC Ferry Rd studios and the Brisbane Powerhouse.
