“Three’s a Crowd” features the unusual combination of tenor saxophone and acoustic bass. Its’ members have worked together professionally for many years on the Brisbane jazz scene. In 2010, Gerard participated in the European American Musical Alliance’s prestigious summer conducting program in Paris. In his capacity as jazz bassist, Gerard has been a member of the Steve Newcomb Trio, which performed at the Brisbane Powerhouse International Jazz Festival and at the Conservatorium 50th Anniversary Celebrations Concert. He also toured nationally in 2009 with the Brisbane based ensemble, the “West End Composers Collective”. As a sideman he has performed with Jacam Manricks, Danny Fisher, Gretchen Parlato, Barney McCall, Mike Knock, Jim Pugh, Will Vinson and Mike Moreno. Gerard also plays regularly in the Qld Symphony Orchestra. Gerard has performed with many of the LiveMUSIC ensembles and his solo performances add that special something to an event.
During the late 80’s and early 90’s Andrew played an active role in the Brisbane Jazz Scene performing and recording with a variety of jazz ensembles and musicians such as the Tony Hobbs led Big band. Andrew is well known around Queensland for his work as a jazz saxophonist. Individually and together as part of other ensembles, Andrew and Gerard have performed at many of Australia’s premier Jazz venues and festivals in a variety of contexts.
