Steele Chabau is a jazz, R&B, rock, and latin bass player from Brisbane, Australia. Chabau holds a Bachelor of Music degree in Jazz Performance from Griffith University, Brisbane (2007). He is a member of Chukale, Hannah Macklin, and Inland Sea, and has performed with acts such as Emma Dean, Felix Baloy (Afro Cuban All-Stars), Hungry Kids of Hungary, James Morrison, The John Steel Singers, Louise Denson Group, Mason Rack, Passenger, Polo Tamayo (Buena Vista Social Club), Stu Larsen, and the West End Composers Collective. He has toured with Grammy Award winning artists from the Buena Vista Social Club and the Afro Cuban All Stars; performed live on Channel 7’s The Morning Show and Triple J’s Live At The Wireless; appeared at music festivals including Woodford Folk Festival, St Jerome’s Laneway Festival and has received high rotation on Triple J and iTunes Single of the Week. Steele is a permanent member of Afro-Cuban salsa ensemble Chukale, electro pop killers MKO and indie folksters Inland Sea.
