Emigrating from Japan to Australia with his family, Katei grew up calling Brisbane home playing the violin since the age of five. Katei’s unique style and flare set him apart from other artists and ultimately landed him an opportunity with a major record label, Victor Entertainment Japan. In November 2009, Katei released his debut album “Journey” and has since been performing all over Japan alongside many major artists. Since the earthquake and Tsunami that devastated Japan early this year, Katei has performed at a number of charitable events both in Japan and Australia in hope of raising the spirits of those struggling with the devastation and providing support for the massive relief effort underway. During 2011 he has performed at the Buddha Birthday Festival 2011, charity performances for Loving Care Group Charity Dinner, Brisbane International City Church, Vietnamese Moon Festival, RSPCA’s Playing for Paws and the Butterfly Ball. He also appeared with Adam Cadell as featured artists at the Queensland Tourism Awards held at the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre, South Brisbane.
