Jose McLaughlin is a former member of the world-famous pop group Gerry and the Pacemakers, and has, over the years, been the guitarist/pianist of choice for many famous Australian and International artists, performing with the likes of The Doobie Brothers, Chuck Berry, Peter Allen, James Morrison, Thelma Houston, Bo Diddley and many more. Jose was also involved in the British jazz scene, and played at the famous Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Club, as well as co-forming one of England’s very first jazz-rock groups, Highly Inflammable, which featured world-renowned bassist Percy Jones, and supported Tony Williams’ Lifetime (featuring guitarist John McLaughlin) on their British tour. Jose has made over 200 recordings and is listed in the Who’s Who of both Australian Rock and Jazz. He is also a well-known award-winning composer, having written many hit recordings, several TV show themes, jingles and music for documentary films. Jose composed the Official Australian Olympic Theme Song for the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games. Jose is a regular member of the groups Nova Esperanca and The Included Collective, an aggregation of Brisbane’s improvising musicians that includes John Stefulj, Louise Denson, Lyndsay Stafford, Katy Douth and many others. The Collective have recorded over 25 albums to date.
